Coloured and flavoured candy floss: what can be customised

Candy floss is a feast for the eyes before it is anything else. A pink, red or green cloud on a wooden stick is one of the happiest sights at any event, which is why coloured candy floss has become a branding tool at trade shows, weddings and company parties. Here we explain which colours and flavours are available, where the colour comes from and what else can be customised on the cart.

How candy floss is made

The machine has a head that spins very fast and heats the sugar until it melts. The liquid sugar is flung out through tiny holes and, as it meets the air, sets into ultra-fine threads. The operator gathers them by twirling a 40 cm wooden stick inside the bowl until a cloud forms.

Each candy floss uses 12 to 18 g of sugar and takes 30-60 seconds. Once made, it goes on an upright stand next to the machine, in full view.

Where the colour comes from

White candy floss is made with ordinary sugar. Coloured candy floss uses special flavoured sugar with food colouring, which comes ready-mixed in 1 kg tubs. Each flavour has its own colour, so choosing a flavour also means choosing the shade.

Using the measuring scoop, each tub makes around 50 candy flosses, the equivalent of half an hour’s continuous service. The operator brings enough tubs for all the hours booked: consumables are included without limit.

Colours and flavours available

These are the usual flavours and their colours:

• Strawberry: red.
• Watermelon: red.
• Peach: orange.
• Melon: yellow.
• Banana: yellow.
• Apple: green.

More flavours are available on request. If you are after a specific colour that isn’t listed, such as blue or pink for a theme, ask us before you finalise the event.

One colour or several: how to organise it

A mixed selection

Most often, the operator brings several flavours and makes each one to the guest’s choice. It is the most fun option at family parties and weddings: everyone picks their own and the stand fills with colour.

A single colour

For branded events or strongly themed parties, we can bring a single flavour and colour. Every candy floss comes out the same, which reinforces the image: a hundred people walking around with a cloud in your brand colour don’t go unnoticed.

Combining with other carts

Unlike candy floss, the popcorn cart makes one colour per cart. If you want popcorn and candy floss in the same corporate colour, choose the popcorn colour first, as it has fewer options, then find the candy floss flavour that matches best.

How to choose the colour for your event

• Branded events and launches: your corporate colour or the new product’s colour.
• Weddings: the shade of the décor or the flowers.
• Christmas: strawberry red and apple green.
• Summer and outdoor parties: watermelon, melon and peach, fresh colours and flavours.
• Themed parties: the colours of the theme, a team or a film.

What else can be branded on the cart

The colour of the candy floss is only part of it. On the candy floss cart you can also customise:

• The front of the machine, just below the bowl, with your logo, in a 30 x 32.5 cm (Height x Width) area.
• The whole cart, as long as it is returned as it was delivered.
• The colour of the machine: pink as standard, but it can be customised.
• The packaging: cones or bags, depending on the event.

• No smoke: the machine gives off no smoke, so it can be used indoors without extraction.
• Space: around 100 x 200 cm (Width x Depth) for the cart and operator.
• Power: a standard 230 V socket. The machine draws 1,200 W.
• Access: it needs step-free access or a lift.
• Service rate: up to 60 portions an hour.

Allergens and colourings

Candy floss is gluten-free. It contains sugar and food colourings that depend on the flavour chosen; those used include E129, E102, E124 and E142. When you choose your flavours, we send you the details of each so you can inform your guests.

We choose from the colours of the available flavours, so we find the closest match. If your brand uses a very specific shade, ask us first and we will look into it.

Does each colour have a different flavour?

Yes. The colour comes from the flavoured sugar: red for strawberry or watermelon, orange for peach, yellow for melon or banana and green for apple.

Can several colours be served at the same event?
